Category module for sections: photo, video, events...

I think everything would be more user friendly if the sections of the site will have Categories. It is difficult to search photos, videos... without categories.

        There needs to be a URL option for events, so you can post a link to the event website for more information

        The Events schedule definitely needs categories. Users need to be able to sort them by Category and by location, such as a ZIP code. It would be nice to be able to add an image specific to each category as well instead of the standard icon for every event.

        Will categories for groups be provided in future releases? It would be a great social netowrking feature to organize the groups in groups or categories (similar to categories for classified ads). For example, I want to have a group for biking in California, a group in Washington, a group in Oregon, a group in Arizona, etc. Without the capability to group or categorize them, we will have so many similar groups for the same thing but in different locations (state or cities). This would be a very good feature for Skadate to have over its competitors (to help marketing for Skadate).

        Hello Easton,

        Sorry for taking so long to respond.

        Admins will be adding categories via the Admin Panel.

        Categories for videos will be added in the next build, which will be released in the coming future.

        I hope the category selection is preset by Admin in the Admin Area.....

        Allowing users to write in a text Category is useless..... Admin should set the Categories and users choose from a drop-down selection

        Tags are NOT a good idea to *replace* categories - they serve a different purpose and function very differently as distinct methods of organizing information (topography). Tags, especially when users invent new ones, become random and creative; not a bad thing, but not helpful for subjective & qualitative information ...but not if/when you need to order quantities of information. It is more important to add categories, but tags are useful but not helpful - and I think what developers want is software utility, not more user features.

        Tags is good ONLY if it is a Mandatory Field if not members will just skip it without adding any Text..... Honestly, I strongly believe that Category is the best option for this function. Tags can be messy and not properly organised so Category is best because Admin can preset the Category Options from the Admin Area that members are allowed to use

        Obviously, this is much needed feature and would greatly improve userabillity as things are more organised. This is not a difficult feature to implement

        Will this be in the next Built?
