I suggest you ...

Have an auto purge feature for user emails that are over 2 weeks old.

It seems that emails can really get piled up in a users inbox/sent box. An auto purge of emails over 2 weeks old would clean up space on the system/server.

What do you think if we add an option to automatically move old e-mails to trash instead of deleting them completely? Some members don’t want a cluttered mailbox, but at the same time may want to keep the correspondence just in case

Same thing here! give some choice to the admin, exemple: 2 week, 1 month, 2 month and 3 month long mail stay inbox!

Best is to define how long you can store emails (no matter the box) based on your status.
Like 1 month for standard users and 3 months for premium users.

In my country there is a datingsite where only the latest 50 (adjustable in admin panel) mails are saved. If you have a mail that you want to keep, you have to delete unimportant mails, so that the important mail stays in the 50 latest mails. I like that idea.

It would be better to completely delete old emails..... this is very useful cause older emails can take up alot of server space. Facebook and alot of other site does this. If a member A wants to contact member B again they can simply send another email and start a new conversation. But having emails over 2 weeks is useful.

Same of our members are so lazy that they don't delete any mails. :s

I guess emails do not take much space on the server ? Or am I wrong ?

        Hello Carl,

The e-mails will stay in Trash folder until a member deletes them. The main idea of this option is to 'unclutter' the members mailboxes from old messages, but at the same time keep those messages in Trash 'just in case' until a member firmly decides for himself that he does not need them any more.

We have members with over 800 emails in their inbox. :-( Wish I had some votes left ... .

Another possibility would be that only the last 50 (number to be set in admin panel) mails are kept in the inbox (older mails will be deleted).

I often like to go back to old emails. maybe we can have a "Saved" or "Favorite" folder?

Can be usefull, but only if you can change the number of weeks in admin panel.
